This is a pilot-operated, balanced piston relief valve. It blocks flow from port 1 to port 2 until sufficient pressure is applied to port 1 to pilot-open the spool, opening a flow path from port 1 to port 2. The pressure at port 2 is directly additive to the valve pressure setting. It is suitable for continuous duty and accurate pressure control with constant or varying flows, but spool leakage should be taken into consideration. For extremely low leakage requirements, please choose the pilot-operated, balanced poppet type relief valve, RP-10W-2G-Y-Z.

  • Maximum pressure can be accepted at port 2 but it is necessary to install double back-up rings to valve for cross port relief circuit application. Leakage of spool should be concerned.
  • The maximum leakage is approximately 33 cc/min at 70 bar (1000 psi).
  • When the pressure drop across the relief valve is high, cavitation can easily occur, leading to noise and manifold erosion. If this is a concern, please refer to the balanced poppet type RP-10W-2G-Y-Z.
  • Pilot port is protected for contamination resistance by a stainless-steel filter screen.
  • Back pressure at port 2 (tank port) is added directly to the valve setting in a 1:1 ratio.
  • This valve is not proper to use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
  • Working parts are heat-treated and high-precision ground to increase hardness for long life.
