This is a pilot-operated, balanced piston, ventable relief valve. It blocks flow from port 1 to port 2 until sufficient pressure is applied to port 1 to pilot-open the spool, allowing a flow path from port 1 to port 2. This flow through the vent causes a pressure imbalance, opening the main section and dumping the pump at minimum pressure drop. The valve includes a vent port (port 3) that connects the main piston to the pilot stage, allowing remote control in pump unloading application by other pilot valves, 2-way valves or proportional relief valves (PRB8A) and other valves. This valve features accurate pressure control, quiet and smooth operation, and a moderately fast response.

  • Maximum pressure can be accepted at port 2, suitable for use in cross port relief circuits but spool leakage should be considered.
  • The maximum leakage is approximately 80 cc/min at 70 bar (1000 psi).
  • When the pressure drop across the relief valve is high, cavitation can easily occur, leading to noise and manifold erosion. If this is a concern, please refer to the balanced poppet type RV-19A-3G-Y-Z. 
  • Back pressure at port 2 (tank port) is added directly to the valve setting in a 1:1 ratio.
  • This valve is not proper to use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
  • Working parts are heat-treated and high-precision ground to increase hardness for long life.
