Atmospherically vented Counterbalance valve is a motion control component which used to control overrunning and load. When pressure at port 2 rises over the check cracking pressure, counterbalance valve will allow free flow from port 2 to port 1. The flow is relieved from port 1 to port 2 when load pressure at port 1 is higher than pressure setting. Pilot pressure at port 3 reduces the pressure setting by pilot ratio of counterbalance valve and when it is fully opened, the pressure is relieved from port 1 to port 2. This type of valve setting would not be affected by backpressure due to the spring chamber is atmospherically referenced.

  • Counterbalance valve pressure should be set at least 1.3 times the maximum load pressure.
  • Reduce valve setting and release load by turning screw clockwise.
  • Atmospherically vented counterbalance valve will occur approximately 1 drop (0.07 cc) of fluid from the pilot area to the vented spring chamber when pilot piston operates every 4000 cycles.
  • When the valve is set at standard pressure and reseat exceeds 85% of set pressure. Reducing the pressure setting could lead to a decrease in the reseat percentage.
  • Counterbalance valve and load reactive load control valve are ideal for mounting directly near or in cylinder, hydraulic motor and rotary actuator as protection to increase the safety of the circuit.
  • To provide machine stability, vented valves may require a lower pilot ratio than non-vented valve.
  • For this vented valve, there will have slight leakage after operating a period.
  • Winner® offers a wide range of products, including counterbalance valves, pilot-to-open check valve and load control valve can be flexible application in circuits under the same cavity, flow path and pilot port at port 3.
  • External components are WINNERcoat® Zinc-Nickel Plating for 1000 hours salt spray test according to DIN EN ISO 9227. Also, some ordering code with letter "P" at the end is stainless steel external components. The ordering code with letter "S" at the end is all components of cartridge valve are made of stainless steel for special requirements such as deep sea, marine or water based hydraulic. .
