This is a pilot-operated, balanced piston, ventable relief valve with an integral 8A-2 pilot control cavity, designed for use with any 8A-2 pressure control cartridge valve. When the pressure at port 1 exceeds the pilot control setting, it pilots open port 2, allowing throttled flow to regulate the pressure. The pressure differential between port 1 and port 2 is determined by the settings of the pilot control. Changes in pressure at port 2 do not affect the pressure setting, making it suitable for sequential applications. This valve is commonly paired with Winner proportional relief valves, such as the PRB8A or PRA8A.
When the pressure drop across the relief valve is high,
cavitation
can easily occur, leading to noise and
manifold erosion
. If this is a concern, please refer to the balanced poppet type
RV-2A-3G-Y-85
.
Maximum pressure can be accepted at port 2, suitable for use in cross port relief circuits but spool leakage should be considered.
The maximum leakage is approximately 50 cc/min at 70 bar (1000 psi).
W spring is suitable for higher pressure drop application.
Pressure at port 3 is added directly to the valve setting in a 1:1 ratio and must be less than 350 bar (5000 psi).
This valve is not proper to use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
Working parts are heat-treated and high-precision ground to increase hardness for long life.
A variety of seal kit materials for different applications, see seals information under Technical Reference.
Winner's cartridges pressure rating tested to the standard of the NFPA specification T2.6.1 and the fatigue rating's assurance and verification level is "90/90".
